Letter: Priority must be safety

To the editor:

I’ve read the umpteenth item about a Mac’s store getting robbed. Obviously Mac’s management is not recognizing or acknowledging the danger they are placing their employees in.

The publicity surrounding these robberies is unprecedented in Thunder Bay news history. Macs should cease 24 hour operations immediately, or have a police officer on the premises for their late night shift.

If that’s too expensive, maybe they should consider the cost of a settlement to an injured or traumatized employee, and how that will offset the profits from late night sales.

People can get their pop, chips, and smokes at a reasonable time of day. It’s not worth some employees’ health or life.
