Dear Editor:
I have examined the bus depot site at Water and Camelot St. numerous times and cannot see how an arena complex with adequate parking will fit.
Is there a plan to close Water St. between Camelot and Red River to accomplish this?
That would be a disaster to traffic flow between the north and south wards. Is city administration so adamant to ensure the success of the Marina Park that they would push for this boondoggle?
I do not know the status of the land of the former Port Arthur General Hospital, but the size of the area seems to me to be a satisfactory alternative. The complex would have sufficient space on the former parking/helicopter landing site, with parking on the former hospital site. This is the size of land we should be considering.
Do we want to repeat the mistake of putting a 6,500 seat complex on a diminutive lot with non-existent parking? Let’s rethink this prospect and do it right the first time.
