To the editor:
With the recent heavy rain it is quite evident that the present Shuniah Township management have little or no idea how to manage the roads in this rural area.
The washout on Eldorado Beach Road was mainly caused by the ineffective ditch maintenance and the small undersized culverts placed by the township last year.
The beaver dam has been in existence for many years on private property. This road has washed out before and will do so again, as the repairs have in the past and still today fall short of adequate.
Where does that road end up? Well on the shores of Lake Superior and thereby destroying natural bird habitat, precious shoreline and much more.
If we, the mere public, dumped thousands of tons of road gravel into the lake and just shrugged our shoulders and looked up to the sky and blamed someone else we would be in big trouble with the Ministry of Natural Resources and conservation authorities.
I weep for the damage that has been done by this township and implore the authorities to take note.
