LETTER: Rural ratepayers not treated unfairly

Are rural rate payers treated less fairly than their city-living counterparts? This author says no.

To the editor,

Regarding the letter of unfair sewer tax for rural residents "source January 26 2017".

I do understand the frustration of paying for a service you do not receive. However the rural residents are not facing unfair taxes, it is the lack of accountability at city hall to enforce policies.

Enforcement of policy is impossible at every level of government because of the bureaucracy, and lack of integrity of administrations. The authorities cannot, and will not enforce policies to ensure their self preservation.

I have perused many policies at all levels of government with little results due to the lack of cooperation of the people that are supposed to be enforcing our policies.

As far as the sewer tax goes, I believe our city council does not fully understand how it is collected, or how it can be used.

The enhanced infrastructure funds is part of the increased levy, and must be used to reduce the huge road and drainage deficit we are facing in Thunder Bay
