LETTER: Save our watershed

To the editor: Maybe now members of Fort?William First Nation against Horizon Wind Inc.

To the editor:

Maybe now members of Fort?William First Nation against Horizon Wind Inc.’s development will have an opportunity to address our concerns regarding the process the company has with its so-called full consultation, our sacred mountain and the Loch Lomond Watershead area that will be protected at all cost.

It is important that the Ministry of the Environment and company president Anthony Zwig understand that, just what lengths that myself and other members of FWFN, with the support of Indigenous Peoples in Solidarity Protecting Sacred Sites, and other groups will take to stop this project taking place within FWFN’s traditional territory.

The whole of Loch Lomond is within our traditional territory and part of the lake is within our reseve boundary line.

Damage to one part of the lake is damage to all of the lake.

During times of war and times of peace our fathers and grandfathers were asked to protect this same lake the city of Fort William relied on for its water; not only protecting the lake from any sort of sabotage to the lake itself, but to harmful harvesting of woods surrounding the lake.

Our fathers and grandfathers walked around the whole lake taking their service very serious.

For all our fathers and grandfathers who have passed on to the spirit world, many of us here will continue your legacy and protect Loch Lomond Watershead and our sacred mountain.
