LETTER: Save the Lyceum

As a community member that finds beauty in the city`s natural and built heritage, as well as being employed to create engaging historical tour for youth, I find the decision to tear down the Lyceum Theatre deeply saddening.

As a community member that finds beauty in the city`s natural and built heritage, as well as being employed to create engaging historical tour for youth, I find the decision to tear down the Lyceum Theatre deeply saddening.

I wonder when the point will come that some planning or policy will be created to prevent this from happening to other parts of our history.

I strongly suggest the city rethink the need to demand an immediate demolition and try to think of a way to salvage the building.

I know these things take time and money but where there is a will there is way! Who will fight for these places and memories if not the people incharge of guiding the city then the community at large.

I hope this isn’t the end of the Lyceum.
