Letter: Speedy drivers making Rosslyn Road dangerous

To the editor, I don't usually write letters such as this, but what I found on the road outside my home this morning has prompted me to do so. We live on Rosslyn Road, and the posted speed limit is 50 km/h, clearly marked all along the roadway.
To the editor,

I don't usually write letters such as this, but what I found on the road outside my home this morning has prompted me to do so.

We live on Rosslyn Road, and the posted speed limit is 50 km/h, clearly marked all along the roadway. I would guess that only about one of every five drivers even approach this limit, let alone adhere to it; and the average speed past our home is closer to 70 km/h. Some vehicles travel above this speed as well.

On the morning of Friday, July 8, as I walked to our mailbox, I saw a raven take off from the road and when I looked to see what it was after, I realized that someone's family pet was in the middle of the road, dead.

The driver was long gone, apparently uninterested in dealing with the aftermath of the collision.

I can't say for sure that this particular driver was speeding, but the odds are good that he or she was.

In fact, as I was coming back to the scene to collect the body, another young woman in a half-ton went by, easily surpassing 65 or 70 km/h.

Please people, slow down on Rosslyn Road. Kids and pets are out here.
