To the editor:
Harry Chapman is getting a good deal of press, but incorrectly states that “everyone” is irritated by the plan to change the direction of the stop signs in the neighbourhood of Bay Street.
Many residents in the area, myself included, favour this plan. We have noted for years that vehicles speed along the north-south side streets to travel unimpeded between Red River Road and John Street.
I have witnessed several near-misses involving children and adults on my way to and from work over the past five years.
In fact, it was feedback from area residents that prompted the city to look into making some changes as we try to make safe walking and cycling routes a priority in our community.
