To the editor,
I frequent this store (Mac’s Convenience store on Arthur and Edward Streets) routinely and find the staff very agreeable and welcoming.
I am dismayed to see time and time again that nothing is being done to provide them with the necessary safety.
I have casually spoken with store clerks all over the city and asked what it will take for them to have protections such as glass barriers. What I have seen in response to the rash of robberies is establishment of a video recording system to record people coming in the store.
This is at the store in question.
A hoodie, baseball cap and the correct posture will render this completely and utterly useless.
I wonder if we have now seen "what it will take" for something to be done to protect these honest, hardworking people from direct physical assault, or worse.
