To the editor:
Thanks, Thunder Bay for a great Film Fest!
The North of Superior Film Association (NOSFA) offers a sincere and humble "Thank you!" for all the enthusiastic support shown toward the 25th anniversary of the annual Northwest Film Fest held at SilverCity.
Thanks to our great sponsors, the management and staff at SilverCity, Cineplex, the Film Circuit, Britten Barten and the Chronicle Journal, Helium Highs, Rainbow Printers, our stalwart volunteer corps, the folks at UPS Store, FedEx, Greyhound and Purolator, fest coordinator Catherine Powell and of course our loyal, enthusiastic patrons for their support!
Special thanks goes to Ron Hell and Bearskin Airlines and Cinefest for the special anniversary prize package won by Audra Kavanagh to Cinefest, Sudbury this fall.
A nod also goes to local media including the Chronicle-Journal, Thunder Bay Television, The Source, The Walleye, TBNewswatch, CKPR radio, CBC radio, Country 105 and Magic 99, and LU Radio.
Best attended and well-received titles included Bombshell: The Hedy Lamar Story, Tulipani: Love, Honour and a Bicycle, Finding Your Feet, Loving Vincent, The Leisure Seeker, and Lady Bird (thanks to SilverCity for feverish efforts to overcome a tech glitch with Lady Bird!)
Thanks also to Bight Restaurant, the Damon Dowbak Quartet and patrons who attended the festival’s 25th-anniversary gala reception for an enjoyable evening.
It is a privilege and pleasure to occupy our modest niche in the cultural community of Thunder Bay.
Last but not least, thanks to the NOSFA board of directors whose disparate skills, experience, diligence and teamwork resulted in a successful 25th festival.
To our loyal patrons, have a safe and happy summer.
See you in September!
