To the editor:
What type of donkeys have we got in this city?
They are investigating First Church United for opening its doors to homeless person during a recent cold spell. a
Perhaps council and Tim Commisso might try a few nights sleeping out in the cold. We just spent a pile of taxpayer dollars to build a new shelter for the homeless. Why?
We have plenty of empty buildings in this city where homeless people could be accommodated at very little cost by placing two or three people to supervise, rather than spend millions building new multiplex facilities as Mr. Commisso would have us do. He said in a recent interview the multiplex is going ahead at great acceptance and says it could be done at very little cost to the city.
This same person advocates we should provide 90 more parking spots at Marina Park as we tweak it for the new hotel/condo project. He says the developer will reimburse the city by paying $45 per month for each parking spot (but fails to say it this is overall, which would mean $4,500 per month payment or by "per parking spot" mean for those the developers useand over what period of time.
Methinks it is time we got rid of the advocates who want to spend, spend, spend and hire someone who can come up with a plan to eliminate our debt.
