The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry laid 19 charges and issued 18 warnings during a three-day enforcement blitz along Highway 105.

From July 19 to 21, 2016, conservation officers from the Kenora and Red Lake enforcement units checked 43 resident anglers and 533 non-resident anglers along Highway 105 between Ear Falls and Vermilion Bay. Officers were checking for compliance with the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, the Ontario Fishery Regulations and public safety laws. 

Charges and warnings were issued for:

• having an over-limit of fish
• fishing with too many lines
• fishing without a licence
• keeping fish of a prohibited size
• abandoning fish suitable for food
• making a false statement to a fisheries officer
• packaging fish improperly
