19-year-old facing charges for allegedly stealing vehicles

THUNDER BAY -- A 19-year-old male has been arrested in connection with two stolen vehicles.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers took James Rule into custody on Wednesday, 11 days after a warrant was issued for his arrest. 

The police's Community Response Team terminated its pusuit of a vehicle containing five occupants on Aug. 19 in the interest of public safety.

The car had been reported stolen from the Valhalla Inn. Police issued a warrant for Rule's arrest after the vehicle was recovered. 

Officers spotted Rule on the city's south side on Wednesday but said the man fled in a vehicle with another male.

Police apprehended both men in the Linwood Crescent area following a tip the vehicle they allegedly fled driving was parked on the 400 block of Arthur Street. That vehicle was reportedly stolen on Aug. 30.

Rule has been charged with two charges of breach of undertaking, flight from police, two charges of possession of property obtained by crime, two charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while disqualified and resisting a peace officer.

He has been remanded to the Thunder Bay District Jail.
