In 2023, Vishal Taimni, a registered physiotherapist, sustained a knee injury while playing cricket. During his recovery, he struggled to find in-home physiotherapy services in Thunder Bay—something many in the community also face, especially seniors and individuals with limited mobility.

Recognizing the gap in local healthcare services, Taimni was inspired to launch Vi Therapy At Home—a mobile physiotherapy service designed to bring expert care directly to clients in the comfort of their homes.

“I started this service for people who can’t easily get to a clinic—whether it’s due to age, mobility challenges, surgery recovery, or lack of transportation,” says Taimni. “The idea was to assess clients in their home environment, provide tailored exercises, follow up as needed, and connect them to helpful community resources.”

About Vi Therapy At Home

Vi Therapy At Home offers private, in-home physiotherapy services with flexible appointment times, including evenings and weekends. The service is ideal for:

  • Seniors and individuals without access to transportation
  • Clients complaining of hip, knee, shoulder, and back pain
  • Anyone in need of physiotherapy who prefers the comfort of home
  • Neurological impairments like Stroke Rehab, Parkinson's
  • Clients experiencing arthritis pain and discomfort

The clinic offers affordable rates, along with discounts for seniors, students, and DVA cardholders. While direct billing is not available, receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement.

ADP Mobility Assessments and Support

As an authorized provider for the Assistive Devices Program (ADP), Taimni can assess clients for mobility aids such as walkers and wheelchairs, complete government funding paperwork, and provide follow-up support once the device is delivered.

“I visit clients at home to assess their mobility needs and ensure they receive the right equipment to improve independence, stability, and safety,” he explains.

The Importance of Early Assessment

Vishal “Vi” emphasizes that pain is the body’s way of signalling something is wrong—and it shouldn’t be ignored.

“There’s no harm in getting assessed. Once you understand what’s going on, you know what to work on—and that’s the first step toward recovery.”

An Experienced Professional with a Passion for Access

Vishal brings over 16 years of experience in physiotherapy. Originally trained in India, he moved to Canada in 2014, completed the national competency process in 2017, and has since worked across hospital outpatient clinics and long-term care homes in Thunder Bay.

“Transportation is a real barrier to care. My goal is to remove that barrier and help clients reach their full rehab potential—right where they’re most comfortable.”
