2nd accused pleads guilty in murder of Rusty Russow

Both Harley Loon and Travis Loon will return to court in late June to for a sentencing date to be set.

THUNDER BAY — The second of two brothers charged with the murder of Rusty James Russow has pleaded guilty.

Harley Austin Loon and Travis Jacob Loon were both charged with first-degree murder after Russow’s body was found on Nov. 17, 2022 in an apartment on Pearl Street.

In November 2022, Thunder Bay police said they believe Russow, 37, was killed three days prior, on Nov. 14, 2022.

Last month, Harley Loon pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder but guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree murder.

And on Monday, Travis Loon also pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree murder.

Both brothers will return to court in late June to for a sentencing date to be set.
