It was a day of celebration at Thunder Bay's 55 Plus Centre on River Street, as it's been 20 years since the facility first opened its doors.
55 Plus Centre president Mary Garbutt said seniors across the city fundraised to build the centre. The facility welcomes anyone looking to learn a new skill or socialize with friends.
Garbutt added that seniors have a place where they can come and participate in hundreds of activities.
As the baby boomer population reaches their 60s, Garbutt believes the 55-Plus Centre will continue to grow in the years to come.
During Wednesday’s festivities the centre also unveiled its new Ham Radio equipment for its amateur radio station.
