A 75-year-old woman has died following an auto-pedestrian crash

THUNDER BAY -- The pedestrian involved in a collision on the city’s southside Friday afternoon has died.

Investigators confirmed Friday night just before 9:30 p.m. that Darlene Kooistra, 75, of Thunder Bay, died following an auto-pedestrian collision at the corner of Arthur and Edward Streets Friday afternoon.

Police say they believe Kooistra was crossing Arthur Street on a motorized personal mobility device when the crash took place.

The woman was struck by a pickup truck in the crosswalk. The driver of the truck was making a right turn from  Edward onto Arthur Street at the time of the incident.

Traffic officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service continue to investigate the incident and are asking any witnesses who may have seen this collision directly to contact Const. Vondrasek at 684-1200.
