THUNDER BAY - The magical world from one of the most popular book and movie franchises is coming to Thunder Bay.

The Canadian Cancer Society of Thunder Bay will be hosting the fundraiser, Night at Hogwarts, in support of cancer research.

“We decided to do it because we know there is a huge Harry Potter fan base in Thunder Bay,” said Amanda Campigotto, an intern at Canadian Cancer Society. “Sault Ste. Marie did this event and they did awesome. They sold out and had a line up outside of their office to buy tickets, so we are hoping we can do just as well as they did.”

The night will include Harry Potter themed activities, drinks, events, and a potions class, with all the houses from Hogwarts represented. The house that raises the most money will also receive the cup prize.

“There will live entertainment and we are hoping to get some improv actors to act as some of the Harry Potter characters and sit at the head table,” Campigotto said.

Campigotto added they are hoping to raise $15,000 and the money will go towards cancer research and supporting local programs.

Tickets are $100 and go on sale on Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. at the Canadian Cancer Society local office on Barton Street.

“We are advising people to come early because there might be a lineup,” Campigotto said. “We are hoping to sell out super fast. It is first come first serve.”

“People are super excited already. We made our Facebook event page and we have a ton of people interested already. We know there are a lot of fans here and they are going to want to get tickets.”

A Night at Hogwarts will be held on Nov. 23 at Urban Abbey.
