THUNER BAY – A Sunday morning apartment fire on the city’s north side is under investigation.
According to a Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue release, crews responded to an automatic fire alarm at 10:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Pearl Street.
The first arriving unit said people were standing outside and discovered smoke in the hallway.
The fire was difficult to locate, due to the condition of the apartment and location of the fire, but crews were able to locate the fire inside a closet.
The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
A city bus provided shelter for about 20 people, who were temporarily left out in the cold.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
