A potential new name for AbitibiBowater is being left up to its employees.

For two weeks workers were given the opportunity to submit their ideas.

Company spokesman Pierre Choquette said the contest was created after the company became a new legal entity when it completed its restructuring in December.

“It was our CEO’s wish to make that change so that we can provide the company with a new identity as it moves forward,” Choquette said.

A new name will be selected from 1,400 entries. The name selected will be announced sometime in the fall.
