Accused impaired elderly driver crashes into ditch

A 67-year old Oliver Paipoonge man has been charged after the truck he was driving wound up in a ditch.

Ontario Provincial Police say Lawrence Stringer was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.

The truck sustained extensive damage in the single-vehicle crash, which occurred on Monday on Highway 588 in Strange Township.

Stringer is scheduled to appear in court in Thunder Bay on Aug. 14 to answer to the charges.
