Acting on a tip, police seize drugs at area airport

Police arrested two people at an area airport Friday and charged them with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police arrested two people at an area airport Friday and charged them with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Officials with the Sioux Lookout detachment of the OPP say officers received information that two people were travelling from the Sioux Lookout airport to Fort Severn and were in possession of narcotics.

Police say officers responded to that information and located the suspects at the airport.

The two suspects were in possession of Oxycontin and Codeine. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is about $8,000

Police say they have charged Effie Matthews, 66, of Fort Severn and Cornelius Matthews, 62, of Fort Severn with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in a Sioux Lookout courtroom on July 10.
