Active COVID-19 cases fall to lowest level in almost two months

Hospitalizations fell Wednesday to 35 cases.

THUNDER BAY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay district has fallen to 226, the fewest in almost two months.

It's the lowest total since the district health unit reported 193 active cases on Jan. 6, 2022.

According to TBDHU data published Wednesday morning, there were 141 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since its previous report on Monday.

The number of people with the virus who are hospitalized across the district fell to 35, a drop of 14 from Monday.

Six people are in intensive care, compared with eight two days earlier.

TBDHU also reported that the COVID-19 positivity test rate fell to 21.5 per cent during the week of Feb. 20 to 26, 2022.

The previous week, the positivity test rate was 25 per cent.

This statistic is one measure of the current community infection situation.
