THUNDER BAY -- High-flying acrobatics, dare-devil stunts, and aerial races are just some of the planned excitement this weekend at Air Fest 2017.

The annual remote controlled air show is put on each year by the Lakehead Aeromodellers Flying Club.

Air Fest is comprised of planes, jets, helicopters, gliders, quad copters and this year the introduction of racing drones.

Spectators will get a chance to see through the perspective of a pilot or take in some artistic acrobatic displays.

Lakehead Aeromodellers Flying Club member Andrew Kondor said the airshow is going to fun for the entire family.

“We are going to be doing some aerobatic displays,” Kondor said. “There’s going to be free airplanes for the little guys and girls, so the earlier you get here the more you are likely to get something, but we’ve got lots.”

Air Fest runs this Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the group's Flying Club, located just past the correctional centre on Highway 61.
