THUNDER BAY – A special air quality statement has been issued for the city of Thunder Bay.

The alert was issued as a result of the arrival of smoke from wildfires, and Environment Canada says the conditions could be in place for several days, lasting until Sunday or Monday before the air quality improves.

Residents are advised to limit time outdoors and consider rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

The smoky air has more of an effect on older people, pregnant people, infants and young children.
