A 60-year-old man rescued an intoxicated woman who nearly drowned in the water off of Kam View Park early Tuesday morning.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say they responded to a call just before 5 a.m. Officers dispatched to the park say the 60-year-old man was holding the intoxicated woman in the water at the bottom of a ladder near the water’s edge.

Police say the man had heard someone calling out from the park. That’s when he went to assist the woman.

An officer went into the water to help get both the man and woman onto the ladder and out of the water.

Firefighters and Superior North EMS paramedics also provided assistance.

Both the man and woman were sent to the hospital as a precaution. Police say this case is not linked to previous incidents where an intoxicated person fell into the water.
