Apartment fire victim charged with arson

Charges have been laid in connection with a weekend fire at a Pruden Street apartment.

The fire took place Sunday around 9:30 p.m. and resulted in heavy damage to the main floor of the building.

A 53-year-old tenant of the apartment had to be taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. But now that man could be in some legal trouble.

Following an investigation by the Fire Marshall's Office, the hospitalized man has been charged with arson.

Few other details are known at this time, but the suspect is expected to appear in court next month.
