Area homebuilding saw active month in July: CMHC report

Home construction in the Thunder Bay area was fairly active in July, newly released statistics show.

Home construction in the Thunder Bay area was fairly active in July, newly released statistics show.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation released its July statistics Thursday, which confirms there were 42 housing starts in the area for that month.

The CMHC report shows that the area saw starts for 28 single homes, two semis and a dozen condo units.

This brings the total number of starts for 2012 to 129, which is just below the 133 recorded by the end of July in 2011.
