Area inflation rate remains unchanged in January: StatsCan

THUNDER BAY -- The local inflation rate remained steady for the first month of 2013. Statistics Canada data shows the Thunder Bay area’s rate of inflation remained at 0.3 per cent in January, which is identical to the rate recorded in December.

Statistics Canada data shows the Thunder Bay area’s rate of inflation remained at 0.3 per cent in January, which is identical to the rate recorded in December.

That gives this region one of the lowest inflation rates in the country when compared to other major urban areas.

Only Edmonton, Calgary and Victoria recorded lower inflation rates in January.

Statistics Canada reports that the national average inflation rate for January was 0.5 per cent, while the provincial average was 0.6 per cent.
