As spring arrived, more people in Thunder Bay found themselves looking for work.
According to numbers released by Statistics Canada Friday, the jobless rate climbed to 7.3 per cent last month, up from the 7 per cent that was recorded in March.
Unemployment numbers dropped slightly across the country, from 7.7 per cent to 7.6.
Meanwhile, the province’s average unemployment is hovering around 7.9 per cent.
Among other Ontario cities, Thunder Bay sits to the middle of the pack, with Hamilton, Ottawa, Kitchener, Kingston and Guelph slightly more positive statistics.
