Arrest made in Aug. 6 homicide

Police can't name 22-year-old accused of killing Brayden Moonias until he appears in court on Wednesday.

THUNDER BAY – A 22-year-old man has been arrested and will face second-degree murder charges in connection with an Aug. 6 murder.

Brayden Moonias, 18, was killed and a 52-year-old man assaulted in the incident, which occurred in the area of Marina Park and McVicar Creek. An injured male was later discovered in the vicinity of Cumberland Street North and Marina Park Drive and police at that time determined the same person was allegedly responsible for both crimes.

The suspect has not been identified as he has yet to appear in court to face the charges. He’s also been charged with aggravated assault and two counts of failure to comply with a recognizance.

The suspect is being retained in custody until his scheduled Wednesday court appearance.
