Arrest results in seizure of fentanyl, hydromorphone and marijuana

THUNDER BAY -- A 37-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police seized fentanyl, hydromorphone and marijuana during an arrest on the city's south side.

Thunder Bay police officers with their intelligence unit arrested the man on South May Street on Thursday, seizing what they believe to be 60 grams of fentanyl, 88 capsules of hydromorphone and 55 grams of marijuana, along with $1,800 in cash. A subsequent search warrant yielded another two pounds of marijuana and $12,500 in cash.

The value of the seized drugs is estimated at about $17,600.

The Shuniah man is charged with three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of breach of probation and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused appeared in court on Friday morning and was remanded into custody.
