Arthur Street West in Top 5 of worst roads in Northern Ontario

The city says the road has been repaired numerous times this year

THUNDER BAY — This year's Canadian Automobile Association list of the worst roads in Northern Ontario includes one road in the City of Thunder Bay.

CAA says motorists who participated in its annual online survey voted Arthur Street West into the Top Five.

It received the third largest number of votes, behind municipal roads in Timmins and Sudbury.

A spokesperson for the city says Arthur Street West gets a lot of heavy truck traffic, which makes it more susceptible to damage.

The stretch between Parkdale Boulevard and Vanguard Avenue has been particularly problematic this year.

City crews were dispatched on numerous occasions to make cold patch pothole repairs before hot-mix asphalt became available last month.

TBnewswatch was told there are tentative plans to resurface the street but the project has not been approved as yet.
