Robert Wilson said he is hopeful that economic growth in the community will give the province incentive to fund the project.

He added that codes and standards have changed considerably since the facility was built in 1974.

“We have a two-stage,” he said. “We have to build new first so that we can move our patients and residents over to the new part of the facility and then we will work on redevelopment on the older part of the facility.”

During the project’s first phase, the number of rooms would not change but space is expected to be improved.
