Atikokan man without ride for May long after impaired charge

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult male driver with impaired driving offences on May 20, 2016 at 2:15 am.

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult male driver with impaired driving offences on May 20, 2016 at 2:15 am. 

Members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police, (OPP) on patrol located a motor vehicle in the ditch of Kings Highway 11B near Kings Highway 622 within the Township of Atikokan.  A 36-year-old Atikokan man was arrested at the scene and transported to OPP Detachment for breath tests.

Subsequently the driver was charged with,

-Having Over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
-Driving while Ability was Impaired

The vehicle was impounded for a minimum of 7 days and he was issued a mandatory 90 day drivers licence suspension.  He is scheduled to appear in Atikokan Court on June 22, 2016. 

The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.
