THUNDER BAY — A Brampton, Ont., man is in custody on an attempted murder charge after being apprehended just outside Thunder Bay.
According to Peel Regional Police, 23-year-old Gurarpan Aulakh was arrested Monday evening with the assistance of Thunder Bay Police and Ontario Provincial Police.
Details were not disclosed in a statement issued late Tuesday afternoon, but there was a large police presence Monday night on Highway 11/17 at the entrance to the Municipality of Shuniah's landfill site.
Aulakh is charged in connection with an incident Saturday in Mississauga in which an altercation between two people resulted in the discharge of a firearm, with one of the individuals suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
The man is also charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death and multiple additional offences.
He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
