The final chapter in the ill-fated Global Sticks story will be written later this week.
An auction is slated for next Tuesday, Feb. 11 in which all assets inside the manufacturing facility will be put on the sales block.
Global Sticks opened with much fanfare in May of 2011. Aided by a $7 million provincial grant, the novelty stick producer initially employed 75 workers.
Operator Reggie Nukavic almost immediately ran into difficulties with both financing and wood supply.
The company ceased operations completely in the spring of 2012 with outstanding debts of more than $15 million.
Efforts to sell the business failed to produce any interest.
The auction is being conducted by Infinity Asset Solutions on behalf of the receiver Grant-Thornton.
