Auto-pedestrian collision sends man to hospital

City police are investigating an auto-pedestrian collision that sent one man to hospital.

THUNDER BAY – One man was sent to hospital after being struck by a car late Friday night.

Thunder Bay Police were dispatched to the area of Simpson Street near Pruden Street just before 10:30 p.m. for a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

According to police, a Chevrolet Impala was southbound on Simpson Street south of Pruden Street when it struck a pedestrian who was lying on the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old Thunder Bay man, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center where he remains in serious condition.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the collision.

The Thunder Bay Police Traffic Unit attended the scene and the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was gathered.

The investigation is ongoing.
