THUNDER BAY -- A man remains in the hospital after being attacked by a man with an axe.
Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service arrived to the 1500 block of Rankin Street just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to deal with a report of a man who had broken into a home. The man was said to have assaulted a person with an axe.
When officers arrived, a paramedic was already assisting the 35-year-old male victim, who had been struck in the back with the axe.
The victim was escorted to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The two other occupants of the home were left unharmed. The suspected attacker is known to the victim.The accused had fled the scene before officers arrived.
A short time later the suspect was located at his Kensington Drive home.
The man complied with officers and was arrested. Officers escorted the suspect to the hospital where he was treated for injuries that he sustained during the Rankin Street incident.A 28-year-old man has been charged with break and enter and aggravated assault.
Both men remain at the hospital in good condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
