Thunder Bay Police Service Media Update

Transit operations on Carrie Street between Martha and Dorothy Streets had to be re-routed today because of parked vehicles.

The buses simply could not pass through the space left between vehicles parked on both sides of Carrie Street. It appears that snow banks may have been a contributing factor.

Police are reminding motorists city wide to be mindful of vehicle placements to avoid costly tow bills.

The Highway Traffic Act and City by-laws have provisions to address vehicles that block the flow of traffic, including removal.

Motorists are reminded that fire trucks and ambulances and buses require six meters of clearance at all times. Officers facing such complaints must take measures to ensure public safety and tow trucks will be dispatched.
