THUNDER BAY – a bank’s branch is celebrating a century of service in the city.

The Scotiabank branch at the corner of May Street and Victoria Avenue has achieved the 100-year milestone this week. The bank has been doing business at that location since 1912.

The street looked a lot different when the branch first opened, and the tools that were used in the bank have been significantly upgraded since then to say the least. There used to be numerous banks around May Street, but since the development of the Intercity area there's now only one.

After a century in the same location, Branch Manager Joyce Kerr says the bank has no plans of leaving.
The branch is celebrating the milestone by displaying historical photos and technology from the past inside the bank, and all week there is free coffee and cupcakes for their clientele.
