Basic Income Guarantee Demo
Fifty demonstrators earlier this year called on the province to dispense with its two- to three-year pilot trial for its proposed Basic Income Guarantee program and begin ensuring all Ontarians have access to a living wage immediately.

THUNDER BAY -- City residents this week will learn more about Thunder Bay's participation in the Ontario Basic Income Pilot project.

A two-hour open house is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the West Thunder Community Centre, on South Edward Street, starting at 7 p.m..

Karen Glass, the assistant deputy minister of the poverty reduction strategy division will be on hand to provide a brief overview of the project, as well as highlighting new changes.

Attendees will be provided assistance, if needed, to fill out their application forms to take part in the basic-income project.

The Ontario Basic Income Pilot project will provide up to $16,989 per year to a single person, less 50 per cent of any earned income. Couples can get up to $24,027, while up to an additional $6,000 per year will be provided to those with a disability.
