Bear attack sends Michigan woman to hospital

A 57-year-old woman was sent to the Marathon Hospital after being attacked by a bear in Pukaskwa Park Friday morning. Just before 9 a.m. Friday, two women from Harbor Springs, Mich.
A 57-year-old woman was sent to the Marathon Hospital after being attacked by a bear in Pukaskwa Park Friday morning.

Just before 9 a.m. Friday, two women from Harbor Springs, Mich., were boating in the national park when one woman went to shore and was attacked by a bear.

“The park warden transported her to the dock and she has since been taken by ambulance to the Marathon hospital,” said OPP spokeswoman Shelley Garr.

The woman suffered non life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack.
