BEARDMORE, Ont. – A Beardmore, Ont. man has been fined $1,100 for fishing and boating offences.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry officials on Thursday revealed Benjamin MacAdam was fined $500 for fishing without a licence and $600 for operating a vessel without personal life-saving and vessel safety equipment on board.

A condition of his conviction states MacAdam won’t be allowed to obtain or possess a fishing licence of any kind and has been barred from fishing-related activities for two years.

The incident in question occurred last July.

Earlier this week  in Nipigon Justice of the Peace Denette Maslach heard MacAdam was contacted by MNRF officials on a routine patrol and his boat was found to be missing a buoyant heaving line, oars or paddles or an anchor and line.

The man’s fishing gear was seized and forfeited to the Crown.
