Nishnawbe Aski Nation’s Grand Chief Stan Beardy is now a Doctor of Education.
Beardy received the honourary degree by officials from Nipissing University in North Bay this afternoon.
He also delivered the convocation address to graduates of the university’s school of education.
Beardy has been the NAN grand chief for the past four terms, and was recognized for his work in bringing traditional governance to First Nation communities.
