Officials with Bearskin Airlines say they are no longer pursuing a cross-border passenger air service.
This comes following the announcement Tuesday by United Airlines to begin offering flights between Thunder Bay and Chicago this February.
Back in 2010, Bearskin announced its intentions to offer flights to and from Minneapolis, to fill the void left behind by Delta Airlines.
The U.S. air carrier cancelled the route in October of that year, due to low passenger volumes. Bearskin had originally planned to have the Minneapolis service available in early 2011.
It was delayed until the fall of 2011, and then to 2012 because of a shortage of aircraft in their fleet.
Bearskin's director of marketing and sales, Ron Hell, told TBT News Wednesday that the company has no plans to try to compete with United for cross-border travelers.
Hell added that they haven't completely given up on bringing back the Minneapolis route, they just have no plans to continue pursuing it at this time.
