The city has a new best block.
The award, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, was given to the 740 block of Confederation Drive Tuesday evening. Best City Block Award chair Jim Kalyta said with the neighbourhoods gardens, lawns and hedges, it was a pretty easy choice to make.
"Everybody works together here," Kalyta said standing on the street Tuesday. "You notice right away that everything looks fantastic."
The choice was made by four judges based on a points system. Along with signage designating the block as the best in the city, Confedertation drive was treated to a street barbecue, despite the wind and rain.
Kalyta said up to two dozen blocks enter the competition, now in its 12 th year Nomintations are held for three years.
"So if you didn’t win this year you have an opportunity to win next year so keep up the good work," he said.
