THUNDER BAY – An abduction charge has been laid against a man once convicted on child pornography charges.

Thunder Bay Police say they’ve added an abduction of a person under 14 years of age charge against Michael Danial Bewcyk, who remains behind bars.

Bewcyk allegedly had a nine-year-old girl on his electronic bike last month when police made a traffic stop to question why the girl wasn’t wearing a helmet.

After identifying the suspect, they realized he had a prohibition order against not allowing him to be around children under 16.

He was taken into custody at that time and was not granted bail in court last week.
