An afternoon fire at a Minnesota street residence appears to have started in the electrical system, firefighters say.

Platoon Chief Les Newman, says the fire appears to have started in the back of the single-story rental home.

“The fire has gone up into the attic. The guys are in an overhaul process right now. We believe it started somewhere around the electrical panel and as a precaution we’re having hydro shut the power to that unit,” Newman said.

He added there was nobody home at the time the fire began.

“Our search came up all clear. Other than that, I haven’t been inside, so it’s a little hard to give you more than that.”

The investigation continues.
