Some of the country's biggest names in blues and rock will begin taking the stage at Marina Park for the ninth annual Thunder Bay Blues Fest this weekend.
Tents are being set up, the sound system is checked, and food vendors are slowly coming in before the city's biggest festival kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Friday. More than 15,000 people are expected to visit the park over the weekend for three full days of live music.
The three major headliners this year are Taj Mahal, Blues Traveler and Robert Randolph. Event Marketing Chair Trevor Hurtig says parking spaces will be minimal over the weekend and says shuttles will be available from the Community Auditorium for residents to hitch a ride to the park.
Hurtig added that waterfront construction will be halted for the weekend and will start up again next week. He also said the closure of the south side of the park will not affect the festival at all.
Event tickets are available at the gate or at the Community Auditorium box office.
